When is the best time for activities in Crete?

Late May to June and September to October offer warm seas, open gorges and far fewer crowds than the July–August peak. Most boat trips and gorge hikes run from spring to autumn.

Do I need to book in advance?

For summer (June–September), book popular tours like Balos cruises and the Samaria Gorge 1–2 weeks ahead. In the shoulder season a few days is usually enough.
