Discover Crete is an independent travel publisher and booking platform for the Greek Crete regions. To keep our island guides, hotel reviews, ferry pages and concierge tools free for travellers, we earn commission on some bookings completed via partner links on this site. This page explains exactly when and how that happens.
01How we make money
- Hotels: Hotel availability and pricing are provided by our booking partner LiteAPI. When you complete a stay booked through a partner link, LiteAPI pays us a commission. You pay the supplier price, never marked up.
- Ferries: Ferry searches, schedules and bookings are powered by our booking partner Ferryhopper. When you book through a partner link, Discover Crete may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Prices and schedules are pulled live from the operators and are never marked up.
- Rent-a-car, ATV and scooter: Every agency listed is an independent local partner we have met on the island. Bookings made via partner links may pay us a referral fee at no extra cost to you.
- Activities and tours: Bookable experiences and tours are powered by our partner GetYourGuide. Affiliate commissions on these bookings help fund our editorial coverage, at no extra cost to you.
- Villas: Concierge villa enquiries are routed to our vetted villa partners and direct operators. We may earn a fee on bookings that complete, at no extra cost to you.
02What this means for you
You never pay more because we earn a commission. Partner pricing on this site is the same price the supplier charges anywhere else. Commission is paid by the supplier out of their margin, not added to your bill.
03Editorial independence
Editorial recommendations (which hotels make our island guides, which ferry routes we highlight, which beaches we send you to) are decided by our editorial team and on-island researchers, not by which partner pays the highest commission. We tell you when a section is operated by a partner: look for the Partner, Concierge or Operated by labels.
