Airport and port routes

Chania Airport to Almyrida: connections and hotel arrival.

Travel from CHQ to Almyrida via Chania or by road, with advice on Kalyves connections, Plaka addresses, family luggage and the return journey.

Editorial review: November 1, 2026

Route at a glance

For Almyrida from Chania Airport (CHQ), the reviewed timetables show an airport–Chania leg and a separate Chania–Almyrida service. Compare that connection with an agreed direct road transfer. Almyrida beach, nearby Kalyves and a property in Plaka are different arrival points.

Use the Almyrida service, not just an eastbound coach

The CHQ bus stop is opposite Departures, on the east side of the terminal. Check the airport–Chania timetable and the separate Almyrida departures for your date. Ask where to change in Chania. A ticket for the main Chania–Rethymno corridor does not by itself establish a stop beside Almyrida beach.

Separate the beach address from Plaka and Kalyves

The municipality places Almyrida within the Plaka community, but that administrative link does not make their hotel entrances interchangeable. Send your host the proposed stop and ask about the remaining route. If the booking says Plaka, Kalyves or another Apokoronas village, use that actual address when obtaining a taxi or transfer quote.

Check the final approach with family luggage

Ask whether the walk from the stop includes an incline, steps or a road crossing. Confirm coach handling of a folded pushchair and mobility equipment before relying on the connection. For a direct vehicle, give passenger ages and luggage numbers, then agree child seats, usable boot space, meeting point, flight-delay terms and total price.

Plan the return around two bus legs

Check Almyrida–Chania and Chania–CHQ independently, including weekend differences and the time needed between buses. Do not use a Kalyves departure as an Almyrida passing time without confirmation. If the connections do not fit your airline deadline, agree another journey. A rental also needs confirmed collection, accommodation parking and airport return arrangements.

FAQ

Questions about this route.

  • The reviewed tables list airport–Chania and Chania–Almyrida separately. Use that connection unless KTEL confirms a through departure on your date.
  • Only if you have arranged the remaining journey. Kalyves and Almyrida have separate timetable entries; neither name guarantees arrival at the other village’s hotel.
  • Do not assume so. Give the villa’s full address and entrance pin, and obtain a total specifically for that location.
  • Check the last feasible onward service after baggage collection. If it cannot be reached, confirm an alternative vehicle and the host’s late check-in instructions before travelling.
